Winners Announced

 In 2025, the Pat Hynes Memorial Scholarship brought to you by NAWIC Greater Rochester Chapter #314 awarded $22,000 to college students continuing their education for full-time schooling in a construction-related field. We recognize their scholastic achievement, leadership, and goals as they look to continue their journey in construction.

Jaelyn Benjamin-Wilson

My name is Jaelyn Benjamin. I am going into my third year of Civil Engineering at Alfred State College. At Alfred, I am also completing a Construction Engineering AAS degree as well as a minor in surveying. I am the president of the ASCE club that we have worked hard to establish within the last year at Alfred State. When I look at my future, I see my career starting and growing in the field of heavy civil construction, potentially with a focus on major transportation infrastructure. Outside of class and homework, I am a very active person so you will find me in the gym, or I am relaxing listening to
music.

Hi, my name is Claire Doughty and I’m from Penfield, NY. My future plans include attending SUNY Delhi for residential construction and to later attend the Construction management program. My hobbies include playing Field hockey and Participating in being management on Stage Crew for my school’s drama club.

My name is Morgan Hamilton and I am a third-year apprentice with Landry Mechanical. In 2020 I graduated from Pavilion Central High
School and GVEP BOCES. I plan on continuing working through Local 13 and become a Journeyman.

Hello My name Makayla Howard. I am Senior at Gates Chili High School. I enjoy walks with my dog and hanging with close friends. I will be attending SUNY Delhi for plumbing and electrical construction in the fall after graduating I will join the local 13 union and become a plumber and electrician.

My name is Samantha Morgan and I am going into my senior year at RIT for Civil Engineering Technology. I first fell in love with Civil when I got a job at a hydroelectric company, and now as I am about to start my career I still want to go into Water Resources or things pertaining to that! Some of my favorite things to do outside of school/work are hiking, reading, and crafting.

Hello! My name is Maddie Gunerman and I am a rising 4th year at the University of Cincinnati studying Architectural Engineering. I have completed 2 architecture internships at VSWC Architects and am currently working as a structural engineering intern at BSI Engineering this summer. In my free time I love to run and have ran 2 half marathons!

I’m a junior at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on sustainable design and construction of advanced manufacturing facilities. I’m also earning a minor in Business and working toward certificates in Sustainability and Innovation/Product Design/Entrepreneurship. On campus, I serve as the Co-Chair of the Society of Women Engineers and Treasurer of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to mentor first-year students, and in my free time I enjoy volunteering and spending time with my Kappa Delta sorority sisters.
